Diana Leong is an Associate Professor of English and Comparative Literature. She received a Ph.D. in Culture and Theory from the University of California, Irvine, and an M.A. in English from the University of Hawai‘i, Manoa. Her teaching and research interests include environmental justice, Black literature, science and speculative fiction, and the environmental humanities (e.g., posthumanism, science and technology studies, animal studies). She is the author of Black Literature, Social Justice, and the Environment: Toward a Slave Ship Ecology, which theorizes the slave ship as a site for the material and imaginative convergence of environmental justice and abolitionism. Her work has also appeared in ISLE, Catalyst, Configurations, Electronic Book Review, Contemporary Political Theory, and the Palgrave Handbook of Animals and Literature.
